O R D E R

The petitioner, who is working as a Special Sub Inspector of Police at Paramakudi Town Police Station has been terminated from service, by the order impugned in this writ petition.

2.The allegation as against this petitioner is that he has recorded a video privately in a rest room and on the complaint of a woman police Constable, the petitioner was suspended on 17.01.2026 and he was also terminated from service on 20.01.2026.

3.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner has attacked the order of termination on the ground that this petitioner has rendered 27 years of service, however, without even conducting any enquiry, he has been terminated from service.

4.Mr.G.V.Vairam Santhosh, learned Additional Government Pleader based on the written instructions submits that the petitioner has been terminated from service on proved charges based on the records, in order to safeguard the dignity of the victim /woman police constable. 5.This Court considered the rival submissions made and also perused the materials placed on record.

6.The petitioner, who is in service in the Police Department for 27 years and is also working as a Special Sub Inspector of Police, has been terminated from service by the impugned order. Admittedly, this petitioner has been terminated from service without providing an 3/5

opportunity and without conducting any disciplinary proceedings in the manner known to law. Therefore, on this limited ground of violation of principle of natural justice, this court is inclined to interfere with the impugned order. Accordingly, the impugned order is set aside with liberty to the respondents to conduct an enquiry by issuing show cause notice and also by following the procedures contemplated. 7.This writ petition is allowed in the above terms.
