Heard the learned counsel on either side.

2The petitioners are facing trial in S.T.C.No.1573 of 2017, on the file of the learned Judicial Magistrate Court, Pattukottai, Thanjavur District, for the offences under Sections 341, 143 and 188 of IPC.

3.It is seen that the petitioners had assembled together demanding waiver of agricultural loan. It is a public issue and it is not a case of the prosecution that any adverse consequences ensued.

4.Therefore, I am of the view that the impugned proceedings need not continue, the petitioners have not been charged with having committed any act of violence. In this view of the matter, the impugned proceedings stand quashed and the Criminal Original Petition is allowed.

Consequently, connected miscellaneous petitions are closed.
