ORDER

The prayer in this writ petition is for a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent i.e., the District Revenue Officer, Madurai to pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law on the appeal preferred by the petitioner on 22.07.2017 within a specified time frame that may be fixed by this Court. 2.Heard Mr.S.Visvalingam, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.V.Anand, learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondent.

3.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that as against the order passed by the Revenue Divisional Officer, with regard to his land in natham S.No.74/4, Melamadai Villae, Madurai District to the extent of 540 sq. ft., the petitioner preferred an appeal to the respondent viz., District Revenue Officer on 22.07.2017, where, written arguments have already been submitted by the petitioner on 17.02.2018. Despite the same, the said appeal still has not been decided by the respondent. Therefore, the petitioner is before this Court.

4.I have heard the learned Government Advocate, who would submit that, the said appeal filed by the petitioner before the respondent dated 22.07.2017 would be considered and the appeal would be decided on merits and in accordance with law, within a time frame to be stipulated by this Court.

5.Considering the limited scope of the prayer sought for in this writ petition, with the consent of both sides, this Court is inclined to dispose of the writ petition, at the admission itself, with the following direction:

"The respondent is hereby directed to decide the appeal of the petitioner dated 22.07.2017, by taking into account the written arguments submitted by the petitioner dated 17.02.2018 and pass orders in the said appeal, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order." 6.With this direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
