O R D E R
This Writ Petition has been filed directing the respondents to permit the petitioner to conduct the Arulmigu Sri Badrakaliamman Temple Festival at Poiyundarkudikadu, Orathanadu Taluk, Thanjavur District from 02.03.2025 to 15.03.2025 with adequate police protection by considering the petitioner representation dated 20.02.2025. 2.According to the petitioner, the petitioner is the resident of Poiyundarkudikadu village and there is a family temple namely Arulmigu Sri Badrakaliamman Temple situated in a private land belonging to Poiyundar Clan comprising of 166 families. While so, some of the individuals started unilaterally collecting tax from the members of the petitioner's clan in the guise of conducing festival without furnishing the 2/6
income and expenditure of the donations. Therefore, there was some misunderstanding between the parties. In the meanwhile, they decided to conduct festival in the said temple from 02.03.2025 to 15.03.2025. In this regard, he has sent a representation to the respondent police seeking police protection and the same was not considered. Hence, this petition. 3.The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents 2 and 3 would submit that since there is a dispute between the parties, they requested the revenue officials to convene a peace committee meeting. In the peace committee meeting, parties had settled their disputes and agreed to conduct the festival peacefully. 4.
The learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents 1, 4 and 5 would submit that as per the request made by the 3rd respondent, the 5th respondent has conducted the peace committee meeting and in the said meeting, parties had settled their disputes and agreed to conduct the festival in a peaceful manner. 5.
to dispose of the writ petition even at the admission stage itself, without issuing notice to the private respondent/R6.
6.In view of the aforesaid submissions made by the respondents, this Court hereby directs the 3rd respondent to provide adequate police protection for smooth conduct of festival in Arulmigu Sri Badrakaliamman Temple Festival at Poiyundarkudikadu, Orathanadu Taluk, Thanjavur District from 02.03.2025 to 15.03.2025. 7.With the above said observations and directions, this writ petition stands disposed of.
