O R D E R
This writ petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to consider and pass appropriate orders on the petitioner's representation dated 30.01.2026 within a stipulated time frame and consequently to direct the respondents to use the alternative routes proposed by the petitioner for election-related access in the forthcoming elections.
2. According to the petitioner, the petitioner is a Government Aided School established in the year 1955 in Thoothukudi District, functioning for more than six decades and catering to hundreds of students from economically weaker sections. During the Parliamentary Elections, 2024, the respondents demolished portions of the school compound wall to create access pathways for election purposes. However, no compensation was paid and proper restoration was not undertaken, thereby compelling the petitioner to repair the damage at its own expenses. Hence, the petitioner submitted a representation to the 2/5
respondents on 30.01.2026 proposing alternative routes situated entirely on Government land. However, the same has not been considered till date. Hence, the present writ petition.
3. The learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents would submit that the petitioner's representation dated 30.01.2026 would be considered in accordance with law.
4. This Court, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, directs the second respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 30.01.2026 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
5. With the above directions, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. 19.02.2026 TSG Speaking/Non-speaking order Index : Yes / No 3/5
