ORDER

This Criminal Original petition is filed for issuing a direction to the respondent police to complete the investigation in Crime No.640 of 2016, dated 24.12.2016 on the file of the respondent and to file a final report within the time stipulated by this Court.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondent.

3. The petitioner is the father of one Jerald Regan who met with an accident and died on the spot. The complaint was lodged even on the date of the accident specifically referring to the lorry which caused the accused. Though the complaint was registered in the month of December 2016, it appears that there was no proper investigation and no final report was filed. 4. This Court is not inclined to accept the explanation offered by the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, stating that the respondent has found the lorry which caused the accident recently. Even according to the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, the lorry bearing Registration No.TN 59-X-9025 has caused the accident. The Registration number of the vehicle was given even in the complaint.

5. In the said circumstances, the Criminal Original petition is allowed and the respondent is directed to complete the investigation in Crime No.640 of 2016 and file a final report within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
