CORAM:

THE HONOURABLE MR.JUSTICE D.BHARATHA CHAKRAVARTHY K.Subramanian ... Petitioner -vsThe Deputy Director General, UIDAI Regional Office, Khanjia Bhavan, No.49, 3rd Floor, South Wing Race Course, Bangalore-560 001.

... Respondent PRAYER:- Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 10.12.2025 and permit the correction of the petitioner's date of birth as 04.03.1954 instead of 04.03.1962 in the petitioner's Aadhaar Card within the time frame stipulated by this Court. For Petitioner : Mr.P.Shanmugavel For Respondent : Mr.K.Govindarajan Deputy Solicitor General of India

ORDER

The prayer in the writ petition is innocuous. The petitioner was originally issued an Aadhaar Card bearing No.6011 4274 8002, in which his date of birth was correctly entered as 04.03.1954 after due verification of documents. Subsequently, when the petitioner applied for updation of his address on 21.07.2025, his date of birth was erroneously altered as 04.03.1962. The said alteration is stated to be a human error. Hence, the petitioner seeks correction of the same in his Aadhaar Card.

2. The original Aadhaar Card reflecting the correct date of birth has also been produced before this Court. In view of the fact that the alteration appears to be only a human error, the same is liable to be corrected.

3. In view thereof, this Writ Petition is ordered on the following terms: The respondent is directed to correct the entry relating to the petitioner's date of birth in the Aadhaar Card by substituting 04.03.1954 in place of 04.03.1962 and to re-upload the corrected Aadhaar Card. The said exercise shall be completed within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a

copy of the web copy of the order, without insisting upon production of a certified copy. For the said purpose, if the petitioner is required to appear before the authorities or any E-Seva Centre, the same shall be intimated to him in advance. No costs.
