ORDER

The present writ petition has been filed seeking a mandamus to direct the 1st respondent to consider the petitioner's passport application dated 01.01.2026.

2. According to the learned Government Advocate for the 2nd respondent, the writ petitioner was implicated in a criminal case in Crime No.714/2022 on the file of the 2nd respondent police station which culminated in filing of a charge sheet before the Judicial Magistrate, Sathyamangalam, on 06.03.2025. Due to memo of objection received by the concerned Court, the chargesheet has not been taken on file.

3. As on date, no Court in India has taken cognizance of criminal case against the petitioner. Therefore, there is no legal impediment for the 1st respondent to consider the request of the petitioner for issuance of passport.

4. Considering the said facts, the first respondent is directed to pass orders within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a 2/4

copy of this order.

5. With the above direction, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
