This petition has been filed to direct the respondent police to expedite the investigation in Crime No.24 of 2016 dated 09.03.2016 and to file the final report within the time frame as may be fixed by this Court.

2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate (Crl. side) for the respondent.

3. When the matter was taken up for hearing, the learned Government Advocate, on instructions, submitted that initially the case in Crime No.24/2016 was registered by the Thirukostiyur Police Station, Sivagangai District. Thereafter the case was transferred to Madurai District and now, the case has been renumbered as Crime No.138/2017 by the Inspector of Police, Melur Police Station and investigation is pending.

4. Recording the same, this petition is closed with a further direction to the Inspector of Police, Melur Police

Station, to expeditiously complete the investigation in Crime No.138/2017 and if he finds it difficult to conduct the investigation of a white colour offence, he may make representation to the Superintendent of Police, for transferring the case to the District Crime Branch or Central Crime Branch, as the case may be.
