O R D E R

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the first respondent to consider and dispose of the petitioner's representation dated 27.07.2025 and to cancel the pattas bearing Patta Nos.337, 163 and 1109, as well as the entries in the Town Survey Land Register issued by the third respondent during the UDR Scheme in the names of the private respondents in respect of the Government land comprised in Survey Nos.47/1, 48/1, 49/1 and 50/1, situated at Iravathanallur, Madurai South Taluk, Madurai District and consequently direct the first to third respondents to issue patta in the name of the petitioner for the aforesaid land under the provisions of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural Lands Record of Tenancy Act, 1969. 2. With the consent of the parties, this Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself, dispensing with notice to the fourth to seventh respondents, as no adverse orders are proposed to be passed against them.

3. The grievance of the petitioner is that the subject properties were classified as Tank Catchment Area as well as Government land. In the said lands, the petitioner's family has been carrying on agricultural activities for more than 40 years. Therefore, the petitioner applied for issuance of patta in her name for the aforesaid lands under the provisions of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural Lands Record of Tenancy Act, 1969. At that time, it came to the knowledge of the petitioner that the private respondents, during the UDR Scheme, by producing fraudulent documents, had obtained pattas in their names. Therefore, the petitioner submitted a representation dated 27.07.2025 to the first respondent seeking cancellation of the pattas issued in the names of the private respondents and issuance of patta in her name. However, till date, no order has been passed. Hence, the petitioner has been constrained to file the present Writ Petition.

4. The learned Government Advocate appearing for the first to third respondents, on instructions, would submit that the petitioner's representation dated 27.07.2025 would be considered and appropriate orders would be passed by the first respondent within a period of sixteen weeks.

5. Recording the above submission and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, this Writ Petition is disposed of with a direction to the first respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 27.07.2025, conduct an enquiry and pass appropriate orders on its merits and in accordance with law within a period of sixteen (16) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The first respondent is also directed to provide a reasonable opportunity of hearing to the petitioner, the private respondents and any other interested parties who may be affected by such decision, before passing any order. There shall be no order as to costs.
