Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue Writ of Mandamus, to direct the 4th respondent to grant permission to conduct the Manju Virattu Vizha on 31.03.2021 at about Morning 7.00 A.M. to 05.00 P.M, for one day, to celebrate the festival in Arulmighu Sri Manthai Karuppana Swamy Kovil and rakkayee Amman, Karpaga Vinayagar Temple, which is situated in Uranganpatti Village, Melur Taluk, Madurai District and consequently to give adequate police protection to the festival.

By consent, this Writ Petition is taken for final hearing.

2. On the side of the petitioner, it is stated that the Jallikattu function conducted by the temple for the past 100 years. It is further stated that the temple belong to the HR and CE Board and the Thakkar has also given a letter in favour of the petitioner and prayed for permission to conduct the Jallikattu (Manju Virattu Vizha)festival on 31.03.2021 from 7.00 am. till 5.00 p.m. 3.On the side of the respondents, it is stated that the Sub Inspector of Police has given a report that there is a possibility of law and order problem and to maintain peace in that locality during the period of Election, the Election official rejected the https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/ 1/2

4.On hearing both sides, this Court directs the petitioner to file a fresh representation before the respondents. The respondents are hereby directed to decide the issue afresh in accordance with the situation prevailing in that locality within a period of three days.

5.With the above directions, the Writ Petition is closed. No costs.
