ORDER

This petition is filed to quash the FIR in Crime No.138 of 2023 registered for the offence under Sections 294(b), 506(i) IPC and Section 4 of 1/7

the Tamilnadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act, 2022, on the file of the Inspector of Police, Nagamalai Pudukkottai Police Station, Madurai District.

2. The allegation in the final report stated that the petitioner along with two others had attacked the defacto complainant and abused him using filthy language and thus committed the aforesaid offence.

3. Though only the first accused has filed this quash petition, the defacto complainant would submit that the FIR lodged against all the accused may be quashed. In this regard, the parties have filed a joint compromise memo dated 14th March, 2024 and the scanned copy of the compromise memo reads as follows:

4. The petitioner(Aadhar No.4459 7921 0371) and the second respondent(Aadhar No.5720 5846 9130) are present before this Court in person. They are identified by Mr.N.Muthaiah, Special Sub Inspector of Police, Nagamalaipudukkottai Police Station, Madurai District. All the parties confirmed the compromise arrived at between them.

5. The dispute is between the landlord and the tenant. Considering the nature of allegations and the fact that the parties entered into a compromise, no useful purpose will be served in keeping the FIR pending. Hence, the FIR in Crime No.138 of 2023 is quashed and this Criminal Original Petition is allowed.
