Respondent Prayer: This Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to appoint the petitioner for the post of Assistant Engineer in the respondent's office by taking into account the petitioner's online application No.A0123843 and Regn.No.178908 dated 28.02.2018 with regard to the notification No.01/2018 dated 14.02.2018.

O R D E R

The prayer sought for herein is for a writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to appoint the petitioner for the post of Assistant Engineer in the respondent's office by taking into account the petitioner's online application No.A0123843 and Regn.No.178908 dated 28.02.2018 with regard to the notification No.01/2018 dated 14.02.2018.

2.Heard Ms.A.Rajini, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.G.Kasinatha Durai, learned standing counsel appearing for the respondent Corporation.

3.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that though a larger prayer has been sought for herein, the petitioner would be satisfied, if a direction is given to the respondent to consider his representation dated 10.03.2018 seeking compassionate appointment and an order to that effect is directed https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

to be passed, within a time frame.

4.I have heard Mr.G.Kasinatha Durai, learned standing counsel appearing for the respondent, who would submit that the petitioner though claimed that he had given a representation on 10.03.2018 seeking compassionate appointment, he would not be eligible to seek such compassionate appointment.

5.Be that as it may, without going into the merits of the claim and counter claim made in this regard by both sides, since the prayer now sought for by the petitioner is only innocuous in nature, this Court is inclined to dispose the writ petition, with the following direction:

"The respondent is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 10.03.2018 on merits and in accordance with law and pass orders thereon, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6.With this direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
