PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondents to release the petitioner's husband namely, Shanmugam, S/o.Permaiya Nattar (Life Convict Prisioner No.22500), on Parole, who is presently confined at Central Prison, Tiruchirappalli, for a period of 16 days to attend his mother Kasiyammal's funeral and rituals.

The petitioner seeks a writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to grant parole to her husband for a period of 16 days for enabling him to attend his mother Kasiammal's funeral and the related rituals.

2. Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the materials available on record.
3. Upon notice, Mr.A.Thiruvadi Kumar, learned Additional Public Prosecutor, has produced a letter from the Jail Superintendent stating that the petitioner has been granted one day leave with escort. When the letter was attempted to be served on the Prisoner on 23.03.2022, it appears that he had refused to receive it. The Jail Superintendent of Trichy Central Prison has also stated that the Prisoner would be given a days leave to attend the 16th day ceremony of his mother.
4. In view of the same, we do not see any reason to keep this Writ Petition pending. The Writ Petition therefore, stands dismissed. No costs.
