ORDER

The present writ petition has been filed seeking mandamus directing the 1st respondent to renew the passport of the petitioner. 2.The learned Government Advocate for the 3rd respondent brought to the notice of the Court that the petitioner was implicated in a criminal case in Crime No.216/2024 on the file of the 3rd respondent/Madagupatti Police Station and he was convicted in STC No.1498/2025 on 03.06.2025 and the petitioner has paid the fine. The petitioner was also implicated in another criminal case in Crime No.93/2019, which culminated in filing of a charge sheet in STC No.1474/2019, in which, the petitioner was convicted and he has paid the fine.

3. The petitioner herein is involved in two other criminal cases in Crime No.174/2022 and 30/2024 on the file of the 3rd respondent police station. In both these cases, investigation is pending so far and charge sheet has not been laid.

4. Considering the aforesaid facts, there is no legal impediment for the 2nd respondent to consider the request of the petitioner for issuance/renewal of passport through the 1st respondent. Therefore, the 1st respondent is directed to consider the application of the petitioner and pass orders within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. With the above direction, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
