Respondents Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus, to call for the records of the impugned order in Na.Ka.No. 1484/2024/H8 dated 06.02.2024 on the file of the 2nd respondent and quash the same and further directing the respondents 1 and 2 to grant license for collection of Animal waste from shops and markets to only such persons who would dispose of the same adopting proper solid waste management system.

ORDER

Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned standing counsel appearing for Karur, Trichy and Thanjavur Corporations.

2. The petitioner's grievance is that the fourth respondent should not have been given license to collect animal waste. As on date, Thanjavur City Municipal Corporation has given licenses to both the petitioner as well as the 14th respondent.

3. I do not want to go into the contentious aspects. Suffice it to say that, it is the duty of the local body to ensure that the licensees strictly adhere to the solid waste management rules. If any complaint of breach of the rules by the licensee is received, it is the duty of the local body to enquire into the same and ensure that there is strict adherence.
