O R D E R

The petitioner is before this Court seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondent Bank to defreeze his savings bank account bearing No. 39895797381.

2. Mr. N.S. Karthikeyan, learned counsel, who accepts notice on behalf of the respondent, on instructions, submitted that the petitioner's bank account is not operational due to the failure of the petitioner to furnish Know Your Customer (KYC) details. It is further submitted that the Investigating Officer has directed the Bank to freeze the petitioner's bank account in connection with a criminal case alleging that an amount of Rs.1,200/- was fraudulently transferred to the petitioner's bank account.

3. In such circumstances, the respondent Bank is directed to mark a lien for a sum of Rs.1,200/- and permit the petitioner to operate his bank account, subject to the petitioner furnishing the required Know Your Customer (KYC) details and maintaining the minimum balance in the 2/4

bank account.

4. With the above observations, the Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
