O R D E R
This Criminal Original petition has been filed to direct the second respondent police to register a case / FIR based on the complaint given by the petitioner dated 05.10.2017.

The learned counsel for the petitioner has submitted that the marriage of the petitioner took place on 29.05.2017 at Nagercoil and at the time of marriage, the petitioner's father gave 350 sovereigns of jewels and also gave Rs.45,00,000/- [Rupees Forty Five Lakhs only] to the proposed accused persons. Subsequently, the proposed accused persons caused cruelty to the petitioner and driven out of the matrimonial home and also they have illegally retained the aforesaid jewels and cash and hence the petitioner has lodged a complaint before the second respondent on 05.10.2017, but sofar, no action has been taken. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

The learned Government Advocate (Crl.side) has submitted that after receipt of the complaint, the second respondent has forwarded the said complaint to the Social Welfare Officer and so far, report has not been received from the said officer. Only after the receipt of the said report, the second respondent will take further action.

Considering the aforesaid submissions, the second respondent is directed to make a request to the Social Welfare Officer to submit a report immediately and after receipt of the said report, he has to verify whether any cognizable offence is made out and if it reveals any cognizable offence, then he has to register a case and proceed in accordance with law. The aforesaid exercise should be done with in a period of three weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
5. With the aforesaid observations, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
