O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed for a direction to the respondent to appoint the petitioners in the post of Wiremen on the basis of the representation of the petitioners dated 29.07.2019 within a time frame fixed by this Court.

2. The case of the petitioner is that the petitioners were appointed as NMRs in the respondent Corporation of Madurai during the year 1992 to 1994 and they have been dealing with the works relating to the street lights. By G.O.Ms.No.151, dated 10.06.1997, 16 posts of Wireman and 16 posts of Helper were created among other post. Out of 16 posts of Wireman, only 10 posts have been filled up and the remaining six posts of Wireman are still vacant. Hence, the petitioners have made representation to the respondent on 29.07.2019 with a request to fill up the existing six vacancies in the post of Wireman by appointing them. But, till date no order was passed. Therefore, the petitioners have filed the present writ petition with the aforesaid prayer. 2/5

3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that it would suffice, if the respondent is directed to dispose of the representation of the petitioners, dated 29.07.2019, on merits and in accordance with law, within a specified period.

4. The learned counsel appearing for the respondent has no serious objection for such an order being passed by this Court.

Considering the limited request made by the learned counsel for the petitioner, this Court, without going into the merits of the matter, directs the respondent to consider the representation of the petitioners, dated 29.07.2019 and pass appropriate orders, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
