PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the first respondent to instruct the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 27.10.2020 seeking allotment of houses to the 50 poor and downtrodden people, which was constructed by the Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board at Periyar Nagar, Rajakoor Village, Madurai District.

************ [Order of the Court was made by T.S.SIVAGNANAM, J.] We have heard Mr.M.S.Suresh Kumar, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.R.Baskaran, learned Standing Counsel for Government appearing for the respondents.

2.This Writ petition has been filed praying for a direction to the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 27.10.2020 and allot houses to 50 poor and downtrodden people, in the apartments constructed by the Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board at Periyar Nagar, Rajakoor Village, Madurai District.

3. It is not clear as to what is the manner of allotment of houses by the Slum Clearance Board, but we are informed by the learned Standing Counsel for Government that the normal procedure is hit by draw of lots, after the applications are filed, for which, a fee is also levied.

4.The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that there is a Central Government Scheme which provides for such allotment and previously houses have been allotted to the poor and downtrodden people. Since nothing is on record as regards the procedure to be followed, all that we can direct the Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board to consider the representation and take action in accordance with the scheme or rule which is applicable to such allotment. 5.With the above direction, this Writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
