PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to grant 21 days ordinary leave without police escort to petitioner's cousin Velmurugan, S/o.Chinnaiyan (Convict Prisoner No.23454) lodged at Central Prison, Tiruchirappalli, by considering his representation dated 09.02.2024, within stipulated time.

While the petitioner's request for grant of 21 days of ordinary leave to his cousin was pending consideration, the present Writ Petition has been filed.

2. Today, when the matter is taken up for consideration, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents furnished a copy of the proceedings of the third respondent dated 19.03.2024, rejecting the request of the petitioner.

3. In view of the disposal of the petitioner's representation, the Writ Petition seeking Mandamus is dismissed with liberty to the petitioner herein to challenge the rejection order in the manner known to law, if he is so advised.
