PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for issuance of a writ of mandamus, directing the 2nd respondent to take steps to make necessary corrections in revenue records in Survey No. 982/1, Malli Village, Srivilliputtur Taluk, Virudhunagar District, in view of the petitioner's representation, dated 12.11.2022. ORDER
The petitioner herein seeks a direction to the second respondent to take steps to make necessary corrections in revenue records pertaining to the land in Survey No. 982/1, Malli Village, Srivilliputtur Taluk, Virudhunagar District, by considering her representation, dated 12.11.2022.
2. According to the petitioner, she is entitled to 35 cents of land in Survey No.982/1A1, Malli Village, Srivilliputtur Taluk, Virudhunagar District, under a registered document. However, in the revenue records, the extent of land in the name of the petitioner is wrongly mentioned as 11 ares
instead of 14 ares. Therefore, she submitted a representation before the third respondent on 12.11.2022, seeking rectification of extent in the revenue records. The same has not been considered till date. Therefore, she has come before this Court.
3. Government Advocate, appearing for the official respondents, would submit that the petitioner seeks rectification in UDR records and, therefore, the competent authority is the District Revenue Officer, the second respondent herein.
4. In view of the same, the third respondent is directed to forward the representation submitted by the petitioner, dated 12.11.2022, to the second respondent within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order, and the second respondent shall consider the same and pass final orders on its own merits within a further period of twelve weeks, after issuing notice to petitioner, sixth respondent, and other interested parties, if any.
5. Accordingly, the Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs. 03.07.2025 NCC :
