ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to issue Patta for the property bearing S.F.No.136/8, which has been classified as Government Poromboke, situated at Vowval Thottam, Yanaimalai, Kodikulam Panchayat, Madurai North, Madurai District in the name of the Annai Thearesa Trust for Differently Abled Person Blind Home, bearing Registration No.128/vtd, by making necessary changes in the revenue record only for the purpose of accommodating visually disabled persons including orphans, by considering the representation dated 13.01.2026.

2. The learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents submitted that the property for which the petitioner has sought Patta is classified as a graveyard (Maiyanam).

3. In view of the above submission, this Court is of the opinion that the petitioner cannot seek assignment of a particular survey number in its name. Moreover, the petitioner is a Trust. Therefore, the question of acceding to the prayer of the petitioner does not arise. However, it is open to the petitioner to submit a representation seeking assignment of land, and the authority concerned may consider the same, if the petitioner is otherwise entitled, in accordance with the rules and conditions laid down by the Government.
