O R D E R

The petitioner seeks for mandamus to dispose of his petition in Na.Ka.No.A1/6530/2024, dated 14.10.2024, as expeditiously as possible.

2. The petitioner pleads that his mother Valliyammal, D/o. Muthuthevar, W/o. Velu, passed away on 10.03.2001. She left behind as her legal heirs the petitioner and two of his siblings. The petitioner did not register the death of his mother with the concerned Sub-Registrar. Soon after her death, necessity arose for the petitioner to obtain a death certificate. Hence, he approached the Sub-Registrar at Kalaiyarkovil and obtained an Non-availability Certificate and on the strength of the said Non-availability Certificate, he approached the Revenue Divisional Officer, Sivagangai for issuance of death certificate.

3. He gave a petition on 14.10.2024 and also paid the late fee of Rs.500/- in order to obtain the death certificate. As the proceedings were not completed, he has come forward with the present writ petition for the aforesaid relief.

4. I heard Mr.M.Iniyavan representing for Mr.G.Sarathkumar for the petitioner and Mr.F.Suriyananth, learned Additional Government Pleader, who takes notice for the respondents.

5. Mr.Suriyananth states that enquiry is pending before the first respondent and it will be completed within a period of three(3) weeks subject to the petitioner making a publication in dailies.

6. Mr.M.Iniyavan states that the publication would be done on or before 14.03.2025.

7. In the light of the submission made by Mr.Suriyananth, the Revenue Divisional Officer shall pass order on the request made by the petitioner by 17.04.2025.

8. Accordingly, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs. 3/5
