O R D E R

The petitioner seeks limited relief for issuance of Writ of Mandamus to direct the first respondent to dispose of his appeal / petition dated 02.01.2025 relating to issuance of patta to the petitioner in respect of Door No.6-1, comprised in Survey No.GR No.70/203 - 70/203B, 70/204, to an extent of 980 sq. ft, situated at Madurai - Mandabam National Highway, South Side, Thiruppuvanam Town & Taluk, Sivagangai District. 2/7

2.The learned Counsel for the petitioner submits that even as early as in February, 2024, the petitioner had sent a representation to the respondents 2 to 4 regarding correction of mistakes in the revenue records and issue patta in the name of the petitioner. The petitioner followed it up with a further representation on 07.05.2024 and finally on 01.02.2025, the petitioner made an application before the first respondent, on coming to know that the first respondent was the competent authority. The petitioner only seeks disposal of the said petition dated 02.01.2025. 3.The learned Special Government Pleader would point out that the competent authority is not the first respondent as projected by the petitioner and the competent authority is the Assistant Settlement Officer, Directorate of Survey and Settlement, Chepauk, Chennai.

4.Considering the limited scope of the relief sought for, it would suffice to dispose of the writ petition directing the Assistant Settlement Officer, Directorate of Survey and Settlement, Chepauk, Chennai, to dispose of the petitioner's appeal / petition dated 02.01.2025 on its own merits and in accordance with law within a period of twelve [12] weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this 3/7

order, after giving an opportunity of personal hearing to the petitioner and the respondents 5 and 6.

5.Accordingly, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
