O R D E R
This writ petition has been filed by the petitioner to direct the respondents no.1 and 2 to provide police protection to celebrate the Masi Maham Festival in Arulmigu Sri Vinayagar and Sri Bala Thandayuthapaani Swamy Temple situated in Pudukkottai District, Manalmelkudi Taluk, Vadakkamapattinam, scheduled to be held from 03.03.2025 to 14.03.2025 in the light of the order passed by the Tahsildar, Manalmelkudi through his proceeding in Na.Ka.No.89/2024/A5 dated 13.11.2024 and based on the representation of the petitioner dated 22.02.2025.

The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner is one of the villager and there is a Temple, namely, Arulmigu Sri Vinayagar and Sri Bala Thandayuthapaani Swamy Temple situated in Vadakkamapattinam and the villagers are used to celebrate the Masi Maham Festival. This year also, they have decided to conduct the Page No. 2 of 6
Festival from 03.03.2025 to 14.03.2025 and thereby, they sent a representation to the respondent police for providing police protection, but the same has not been considered. Already, the Peace Committee Meeting was conducted and as per the resolution of the Peace Committee Meeting, both parties have decided to conduct the Festival without giving first priority to anybody. Therefore, they sent a representation dated 22.02.2025 for police protection and the same has not been considered. Hence, he has filed this petition.
3. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor (Criminal Side) appearing for the respondent police no.1 and 2 would submit that, earlier there was a dispute between the rival groups and thereafter, the Peace Committee Meeting was conducted and both parties have settled the matter amicably. As per the proceedings of the Tahsildar, Manalmelkudi Taluk, both parties have agreed to conduct the Festival in a peaceful manner without any law and order issue. The representation of the petitioner is under consideration and they are ready to give police protection for the worship of the devotees and now, the Festival is going on smoothly.

Since the prayer of the petitioner is to provide police protection, the respondent police are also ready to give police protection and the Festival is also going on smoothly so far, this Court without issuing notice to the private respondent inclined to dispose of the petition by recording the submission of the respondent police. Accordingly, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
