ORDER

The petitioner seeks for transfer of investigation in Crime No.64 of 2026 on the file of the third respondent to any competent investigation officer and to conduct proper investigation.

The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is the defacto complainant, on whose instance Crime No.64 of 2026 was registered on 22.02.2026 for the offences under Section 85, 316(2) & 351(3) of BNSS, 2023, as against two persons with respect to the suicide attempt by her daughter in her matrimonial home. The learned counsel further submitted that it was only at the instigation of the husband and in-laws of her daughter that she was forced to attempt self-immolation. He further contended that there has been no progress in the investigation, and hence, this petition has been filed.

3. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that the victim was safeguarded even when she attempted self-immolation, and thereafter she was admitted to the hospital. He further stated that the investigation is progressing and that there is no need to transfer the investigation. 2/4

4. Heard the learned counsel on either sides and carefully perused the materials available on record.

5. Considering the sensitiveness of the offences involved, the third respondent police is directed to expedite the investigation and conclude the same, as expeditiously as possible within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and he is further directed to appraise the progress in the investigation every Friday to the first respondent. The first respondent is also directed to monitor the investigation conducted by the third respondent.

6. With the above direction, this criminal original petition stands disposed of.
