Respondents PRAYER: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the 1st respondent to conduct peace committee meeting based on the representation dated 21.02.2019 in order to perform Koombabisegam of the petitioner's Village Temple Sri Madurai Veeran Swamy situated in Aavilipatti Village, Perumayoor, Dindigul District, within a specific time as stipulated by this Court.

ORDER

The petitioner wants this Court to direct first respondent to conduct a peace committee meeting to resolve the issue relating to performance of Koombabisegam of Sri Madurai Veeran Swamy Temple at Aavillipatti Village.

2.There is no statutory provision for convening a peace committee meeting. It has no statutory force also. The Revenue authorities in order to find an amicable solution, resort to such measure. Since there is no legal basis for the same, this Court would not be justified in issuing a Writ of Mandamus. 3.The Hon'ble Supreme Court in Civil Appeal No.2425 of 2019, dated 01.03.2019, has deprecated the practice of passing "dispose of the representation" order. Hence, I decline to grant any relief to the writ petitioner. It is made clear that this Court has not gone into merits of the matter. The rights of the writ petitioner are left open. The Writ Petition stands dismissed. No costs.
