ORDER

This writ petition has been filed for a Mandamus seeking for a direction to the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 14.03.2022 seeking for gun licence within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.

2.The petitioner claims that he is a business man and owns a lot of properties. According to him, due to the business enmity, he has been receiving threatening calls and he has applied for gun licence with the respondents on 14.03.2022. Since the said application has not been considered till date, he has filed this writ petition.

3.Heard Mr.Veerapandi Selvaraj, learned Counsel for the writ petitioner and Mrs.S.Jeyapriya, learned Government Advocate, who accepts notice on behalf of the respondents.

4.At the outset, the learned Government Advocate would submit that the application seeking for gun licence has been applied by the petitioner only recently, ie., on 14.03.2022. 5.No prejudice would be caused to the respondents, if the petitioner's application dated 14.03.2022 seeking for issuance of gun licence is considered on merits and in accordance with law, after affording a fair hearing to the petitioner. 6.Accordingly, this Court directs the first respondent to consider the petitioner's application dated 14.03.2022 requesting for issuance of gun licence and pass final orders, on merits and in accordance with law, after affording a fair hearing to the petitioner including granting him the right of personal hearing, within a period of six [6] months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

7.With the above direction, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
