ORDER
Seeking direction to the respondent police to take appropriate and immediate action on the complaint lodged by the petitioner dated 13.10.2025, this criminal original petition is filed.
2.Since no adverse order is likely to be passed against the third respondent, notice to him is dispensed with.
3.The petitioner has lodged a complaint before the second respondent police on 13.10.2025 to take necessary action as against the third respondent with respect to an attempt to rape. However, no steps were taken. Hence, this petition.
3.The learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that already a case in Crime No.501 of 2025 was registered on 31.10.2025 as against the third respondent and his family with respect to assault on the petitioner on 22.04.2025.
4.It is also pointed out by the learned counsel for the petitioner that though it is a case of attempt to rape, the second respondent police had not 2/5
added the relevant Sections and had only registered the case one under Section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act, 2012. 5.Heard either side and carefully perused the materials available on recrod.
6.Considering the submissions made, this Court directs the second respondent police to conclude the investigation in Crime No.501 of 2025 as expeditiously as possible by adding the relevant provisions, preferably, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order and also directed to appraise the progress in the investigation to the first respondent every Friday. The first respondent is directed to monitor the ongoing investigation which is being undertaken by the second respondent. 7.With the above directions, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
