This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a writ of mandamus directing the second respondent to issue appointment order to the petitioner to the post of Fireman based on the final selection list published by the first respondent on 23.09.2024 by disposing the representation, dated 05.02.2025.
2. The case of the petitioner is that he hailed from very humble background and belongs to Back Ward Class community. He wanted to join the uniform service. Pursuant to Notification No.2/2023 issued by the first respondent, dated 08.08.2023 for recruitment to the post of Grade II Police Constable/fireman/jail warden, he made an application through online on 11.09.2023. He participated in the written examination and physical efficiency test. He scored 89 marks out of 100 marks. He called for certificate verification on 09.02.2024. The final selection list was published on 23.09.2024 by the first respondent. The petitioner was selected for the post of Fireman. With an 2/5
apprehension that the respondents may not issue appointment order to the petitioner due to involvement in a criminal case registered against him in Crime No.8 of 2020 by All Women Police Station, Tiruchendur, which was dismissed subsequently by judgment dated 30.07.2024 in S.C.No.220 of 2023 on the file of the Mahila Court (Fast Track Court), Tuticorin, the petitioner submitted a representation to the respondents on 05.02.2025 in person and on 25.02.2025 through registered post. Against the inaction of the respondents in considering the said representation, the present writ petition is filed.

The learned Additional Advocate General appearing for the respondents would submit that the representation was sent only on 05.02.2025 and immediately he filed the present writ petition without giving reasonable time to the respondents to consider the same and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law.

Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, this Court intends to dispose of this writ petition at the admission stage with the consent of both parties without going into the merits of the case with a direction to the second respondent to consider the representation submitted by the petitioner on 3/5
05.02.2025 and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law within a stipulated time to meet the ends of justice.

Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the second respondent to consider the representation submitted by the petitioner on 05.02.2025 and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
