ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the first respondent to cancel the joint Patta No.175 which stands in the name of the petitioner's grandfather as well as the respondents 3 to 21 regarding the Survey No.37, situated at Nemmelikkadu Village, Aranthangi Taluk, Pudukkottai District, with an extent of 1 acre and to issue a joint patta including the petitioner as well as other legal heirs of Muthaiya Konar, by considering his representation dated 14.02.2026 within a time stipulated by this Court.

2. By consent, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

3. Since no adverse orders are going to be passed against the respondents 3 to 21, notice to the respondents 3 to 21 is hereby dispensed with.

4. The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the joint patta bearing No.175 in respect of Survey No.37, Nemmelikkadu Village, Aranthangi Taluk,

Pudukkottai District, measuring an extent of 1 acre, now stands in the name of the petitioner's grandfather along with the respondents 3 to 21. The inclusion of the names of the respondents 3 to 21 in the said joint patta is erroneous and not legally sustainable. It is further submitted that the petitioner, being one of the legal heirs of late Muthaiya Konar, is entitled to have the patta issued jointly in favour of the rightful legal heirs alone. In this regard, the petitioner has submitted a detailed representation dated 14.02.2026 to the competent authority seeking cancellation of the existing joint patta and issuance of a fresh joint patta in favour of the petitioner and other legal heirs of Muthaiya Konar. However, no action has been taken on the said representation till date. Hence, the petitioner has approached this Court seeking appropriate directions.

5. The learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents 1 and 2 submits that the petitioner's representation will be considered and appropriate orders will be passed on merits and in accordance with law within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.

6. Recording the above submission, and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the

first respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 14.02.2026, and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law after providing reasonable opportunity of hearing to the petitioner, the respondents 3 to 21 and any other persons, who may be affected by such decision, within a period of sixteen weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. There shall be no order as to costs.
