The writ petition has been filed seeking to direct the 1st respondent to instruct the 2nd and 3rd respondents to pay a sum of Rs.1,48,055/- towards interest at the rate of 8% per annum for the belated payment of retirement benefits and travelling allowances.
2.Heard the learned Counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate and the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respective respondents. By consent, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.
3.The grievance of the petitioner is that he retired from service on 31.05.2017, but the terminal benefits have been paid only on 30.07.2018. Hence, seeking interest for the belated payment of terminal benefits, the petitioner sent a representation to the respondents on 20.10.2018, which according to him, has not been considered so far. Therefore, the petitioner is before this Court. 4.The learned Government Advocate and the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respective respondents submitted that the representation of the petitioner would be considered on merits within the time stipulated by this Court.
5.Under these circumstances, this Court, without going into the merits of the case, directs the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 20.10.2018, on merits and in accordance with law and pass necessary orders, after affording opportunity of hearing to the petitioner, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 6.The writ petition is disposed of, on the above terms. No costs.
