Respondents P RAYER : Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents and associated authorities to immediately classify, update, and upload the records concerning the petitioner's land in survey No.107/2017 and assignment order No.2639/2007 dated 09.03.2007 with the extent of 27.5 hectares in Arasamalai Village, Ponamaravathy Taluk, Pudukottai District both the physical village records and the computerised digital database urgently and ensure continuous compliance with protocols for the proper registration and management of land records in the regional systems. The petitioner based on assignment patta issued to him in the year 2007 and patta No.1055 has sent a representation to the respondents on 08.08.2024 seeking updation of the land records reflecting the name of the petitioner.

2. With the consent of the counsel appearing on either side, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.
3. I have heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.C.Satheesh, learned Goverment Advocate appearing for the respondents.
4. The grievance of the petitioner is that despite the said representation given as early as in August, 2024, there has been no action taken by the respondents.
5. The learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents would submit that the respondents 2 & 3 are the competent authorities and considering their official duties, a reasonable time may be granted for carrying out the said exercise.
6. Considering the above, the respondents 2 & 3 shall conduct an enquiry and subject to their satisfaction regarding the valid assignment granted to the petitioner, they shall have the land records updated to 3/5
reflect the name of the petitioner. The said exercise shall be carried out within a period of sixteen weeks from today.
7. With the above direction, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
