O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation, dated 25.04.2017 and to promote him to the post of Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering in any of the Government Polytechnic Colleges.

2.Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Special Government Pleader for the respondents. By consent, the Writ Petition itself is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission.

3. According to the petitioner, he is working as a Lecturer

in Mechanical Engineering Department in the Government Polytechnic College, Trichirappalli. Seeking promotion to the post of Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, the petitioner made a representation on 25.04.2017 and the same is pending without any consideration. Hence, this writ petition came to be filed. 4.According to the learned counsel for the petitioner, the post of Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department is presently vacant and the petitioner is eligible for the said post. Hence, he sought for a direction to the first respondent who is the competent authority, to consider the case of the petitioner, for which, the learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents has no serious objection.

5.Hence, the second respondent is directed to forward the petitioner's papers to the first respondent, who, in turn, shall consider the same and pass orders thereon, on merits and in accordance with law within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of the same. However, it is made clear that this Court has not expressed any opinion with regard to the merits of the matter. 6.This writ petition is disposed of, with the above direction. No costs.
