ORDER : The Court Made the following order :- The petitioner is shown as A2 in Crime No.70 of 2018 for offences under Section6(4) of Tamil Nadu Scheduled Commodities (RDCS) Order, 1982 and Section 7(1)(a)(ii) of Essential Commodities Act, 1955.

2. The first accused Padmanathan was arrested by the respondent police and from him more than 1000 Kgs of PDS rice was seized. The first accused had given a confession to the effect that he was given those material from the petitioner, the custodial interrogation of the petitioner would reveal how he permitted the PDS rice.

3. Smuggling of PDS rice is an offence against the society. Therefore, this Court is of the view that custodial interrogation of the petitioner is required.
