Common Prayer: Writ Petitions filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the 1st respondent to promote the petitioners as Head Constables with retrospective effect from the date on which vacancy arose to the said post and further promote the petitioners as Sub Inspector of Police considering the petitioners' seniority along with applicable monetary benefits within the period that may stipulated by this Court by considering petitioners' representations dated 14.03.2019, 16.03.2019, 16.03.2019, 16.03.2019 and 14.03.2019 respectively.

For Petitioners : Mr.M.E.Ilango For Respondents : Mr.V.Anand Government Advocate in all the writ petitions COMMON ORDER These writ petitions have been filed seeking a direction to the first respondent to promote the petitioners as Head Constables with retrospective effect from the date on which vacancy arose to the said post and further promote the petitioners as Sub Inspectors of Police by considering their seniority and based on their representations dated 14.03.2019, 16.03.2019, 16.03.2019, 16.03.2019 and 14.03.2019 respectively.

2.Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioners and the learned Government Advocate for the respondents. By consent, the writ petitions are taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.

3.Though the prayer in the writ petitions is larger in nature, the learned counsel appearing for the petitioners, now confines the same to the extent of seeking a direction to the first respondent for early disposal of the petitioners' representations, after affording an opportunity of hearing to them, for which, the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents has no serious objection.

4.In view of the above, this Court, without going into the merits of the case, directs the first respondent to consider the representations of the petitioners dated 14.03.2019, 16.03.2019, 16.03.2019, 16.03.2019 and 14.03.2019 respectively and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, after affording an opportunity of hearing to the petitioners. 5.The writ petitions are disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
