O R D E R

The present writ petition has been filed seeking a Mandamus directing the respondents to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 29.01.2026 and consequently, rectify his Date of Birth, his Name and his Father's Name in his passport in accordance with the Aadhaar Card and other supporting documents, and re-issue a fresh passport with corrected particulars.

2. The petitioner was initially issued with a passport on 23.10.1990 and the validity has already expired. In the said passport, the date of birth of the petitioner was mentioned as 29.01.1966 and fathers's name was mentioned as Thyagarajan, the petitioner's name was mentioned as Jagannathan.

3. According to the learned counsel appearing for the writ petitioner, the petitioner was born on 29.01.1968 and the birth has been registered as 2/5

early as on 02.02.1968 before the Madurai Corporation. The Birth Certificate as well as the Aadhaar Card and the other documents clearly indicate the correct name of the petitioner as well as the petitioner's father and the petitioner's date of birth. According to him, minor changes have to be made in the name of the petitioner and the name of his father. She further submitted that the petitioner's correct name is Jaganathan and his father's name is Thiyagarajan and the correct date of birth is 29.01.1968 and not as 29.01.1966.

In view of the above said facts and considering the fact that the only minor alterations are sought to be made by the writ petitioner, by relying upon the Birth Certificate that was registered on 02.02.1968 and the Aadhaar Card, Driving License and Voter ID Card, the respondents are directed to consider the request of the petitioner and pass orders within a period of four weeks and re-issue fresh passport to the petitioner with corrected particulars after verifying the same with the original documents. 3/5

5. With the above said observation, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
