O R D E R
This petition has been filed seeking a direction to the Judicial Magistrate, Sankarankovil to expedite the trial and dispose of the case in C.C.No.659/2014 within stipulated time fixed by this Court.
2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate for the respondent.
3. It is seen that this petitioner is facing the prosecution for offences under Sections 341, 294(b), 332, 506(ii) IPC in C.C.No.659/2014 before the Judicial Magistrate, Sankarankovil. The petitioner is before this Court for a direction to the trial Court to complete the trial in a time bound manner.
4. Today, Mr.M.Selvaraj, Special Sub Inspector of Police Sankarankovil Town Police Station is present before this Court.
5. The learned Government Advocate, on instructions, submitted that the trial was delayed mainly on account of the absence of the accused and that the prosecution is ready to complete the trial expeditiously.
6. Per contra, the learned counsel for the petitioner refuted the allegations. Be that as it may, taking into consideration the fact that the petitioner is the sole accused and the prosecution has cited only 10 witnesses, this Court directs the https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/
trial Court to complete the trial in C.C.No.659/2014 within six months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, on condition that the petitioner shall cooperate with the trial by cross examining the witnesses on the day, when they were examined in chief, without adopting any dilatory tactics.
7. With the above directions, the criminal original petition is closed.
