O R D E R

[Order of the Court was made by R.SUBRAMANIAN, J.] The petitioner apprehends that the Government may allow quarrying operations in a hillock called "Periya Iver Malai", situated at Survey No.174 of Thatha Nayakkan Patti Village (North), Palani Taluk, Dindigul District.

2. Learned counsel for the petitioner would contend that the hillock is a holy place and has a religious and spiritual significance, inasmuch as it contains a Deepa Sthambam, which was erected by Vallanadu Sadhu Chidambaram Swamigal.

3. The Assistant Director, Geology and Mining, Dindigul, has filed a status report stating that no action has been taken by the District Collector, Dindigul District, for granting permission to quarry minerals in Survey No.

174. It is also stated that no action has been initiated by the fourth respondent to issue quarry lease for quarrying stones in Survey No.174 of Thatha Nayakkanpatti (North) Village, Dindigul District.

4. Recording the above statement, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. [R.S.M., J.] [L.V.G., J.] 14.03.2023 NCC :
