ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by S.M.SUBRAMANIAM, J.) Admittedly, departmental disciplinary proceedings were initiated against the petitioner and a punishment of stoppage of increment for one year without cumulative effect was imposed.

2.In fact, the punishment imposed by the original disciplinary authority was modified by the Appellate Authority. 3.It is brought to the notice of this Court that the petitioner preferred an appeal before the Additional Registrar General, Madurai Bench of Madras High Court on 26.07.2024 which is yet to be disposed of. 2/5

4.It is needless to state that such appeals preferred by the employees are to be disposed of as expeditiously as possible. Long pendency of statutory appeals would cause prejudice to the interest of the employees. In the present case, the petitioner has already been retired from service. That being so, the first respondent is directed to dispose of the appeal filed by the petitioner on 26.07.2024 as expeditiously as possible preferably within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 5.Accordingly, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
