PRAYER: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent No.1 to dispose of the petitioner's Appeal dated 25.01.2025 and pass orders within the time frame stipulated by this Court.

ORDER
With the consent of the counsel appearing on either side, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.
2. I have heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.C.Satheesh, learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents.
3. The petitioner claiming to be a Solider in Indian Army, who has also served the country during the Kargil War, sought for assignment of 3 cents of land in his favour. He has made a representation to the first respondent in this regard on 24.12.2010 and he has also subsequently retired on 30.10.2012. The petitioner's application found favour with the 2/5
Village Administrative Officer, who has given a report on 07.12.2011. The petitioner has sent a reminder on 28.12.2016 seeking assignment. However, the District Collector has rejected the request of the petitioner by its impugned order dated 19.08.2022. Aggrieved by the said order of the District Collector, the petitioner has preferred an appeal before the first respondent, the Commissioner of Land Administration on 25.01.2025. The petitioner seeks disposal of the said appeal.
4. Considering the fact that the petitioner has filed an appeal on 25.01.2025, the first respondent shall dispose of the same, on merits, in accordance with law, after affording an opportunity to the petitioner by way of personal hearing. The said exercise shall be carried out within a period of sixteen weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
5. With the above direction, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
