O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed seeking direction to the respondents to permit and provide adequate police protection to the petitioner's Association to conduct silent procession from Light House Corner to G.R.Mahal, Thiru.Vee.Ka.Salai, Karur District and for Zonal Conference on 01.05.2018 at 10 A.M. at G.R.Mahal, Thiru.Vee.Ka.Salai, Karur District, by considering the representation of the petitioner dated 21.04.2018

2.According to the petitioner, the petitioner has made a representation dated 21.04.2018 to the respondents, seeking permission to conduct silent procession from Light House Corner to G.R.Mahal, Thiru.Vee.Ka.Salai, Karur District and for Zonal Conference on 01.05.2018 at 10 A.M. at G.R.Mahal, Thiru.Vee.Ka.Salai, Karur District and the same was not considered so far. Hence, this petition has been filed.

3.The learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents submitted that the petitioner's representation was already rejected by the first respondent on 27.04.2018 stating that permission to conduct procession was granted to various Associations and other labour unions. The learned Government Advocate further submitted that the petitioner seeks permission to conduct procession for a distance of one kilometer. Hence, it is not feasible to grant such permission to the petitioner. 4.At this juncture, the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that it is suffice to grant permission to conduct silent procession for the distance of 200 metres alone. 5.The learned Government Advocate, on instructions, submitted that the petitioner may be directed to give a fresh representation and the same shall be considered by the respondents.

6.In view of the submissions made on either side, the petitioner is directed to give a fresh application to the first respondent. If any such application is received, the Deputy Superintendant of Police, Karur/first respondent, is directed to consider the same and pass suitable orders, by granting half an hour time, preferably starting at 10.00 am, on 01.05.2018 to conduct silent procession, restricting the distance to 200 metres, by imposing necessary conditions. 7.With the above direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
