O R D E R

The prayer sought for herein is for a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to pay 6% interest of the retirement benefits to the petitioner in view of the representation dated 19.04.2018.

2.The grievance of the petitioner in this writ petition is that he is an retired employee of the Transport Corporation and since he was not paid the retirement benefits, he had already approached this Court and pursuant to which, retirement benefits had been settled to him. However, the said benefits have been delayed to be paid. Therefore, he is entitled to seek interest for such delayed payment. Such interest since has not been made, he is before this Court with the aforesaid prayer.

3.I have heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, who would submit that if a direction is given to the respondents to pay the interest for delayed payment of retirement https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

benefits to the petitioner within a time frame, this petitioner would be satisfied.

4.Mr.K.Sathiya Singh, learned standing counsel for the respondents would submit that entire retirement benefits have been settled to the petitioner. However, there had been little delay in paying the said benefits. However, the respondents would pay 6% interest for the delayed payment, within a time of two months. 5.Considering the said submissions made by both sides, this writ petition is disposed of with the following direction: "The respondents shall pay 6% interest for the delayed payment of retirement benefits to the petitioner, within a period of two months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

It is made clear that within the said two months, if the 6% interest are not paid, the same shall carry further interest of 18% per annum on the expiry of two months period."

6.With this direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
