Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to grant 3 days leave (parole) to the petitioner's brother namely Mani @ Sintex Mani who is undergoing sentence from 15.03.2023 in Central Prison Madurai to attend the ear piercing ceremony going to held from 23.03.2024 to 25.03.2024.

The present Writ Petition is filed for Mandamus seeking direction to the respondents to grant leave for three days to the petitioner's brother, who is a convict prisoner, from 23.03.2024 to 25.03.2024, to attend the ear boring ceremony of the petitioner's son.

2. The reasons stated in the Writ Petition seeking leave for three days have been verified by the jurisdictional Police and an enquiry report is filed by the Probation Officer. The enquiry report indicates that the ear boring ceremony of the convict's sister's son is scheduled to be held on 24.03.2024 between 10.30 AM and 11.30 AM at Ucharichanpatti, Melur, Madurai.

3. The convict is now confined at Central Prison, Madurai. Considering the prayer in the Writ Petition and the report of the Probation

Officer, this Court is of the view that the respondents/prison authorities shall consider granting one (1) day leave to the convict to attend the ear boring ceremony of his sister's son on 24.03.2024 between 07.00 AM and 07.00 PM, with one escort.

4. Accordingly, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
