PRAYER: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents 1 and 2 to forbear the 6th respondent from conducting Jallikattu Program on 08.03.2025 at Sakkudi Village, Madurai North, Madurai District, in the light of Tamil Nadu Regulation of Jallikattu Act, 2009 within the time frame stipulated by this Court. [Order of the Court was made by J.NISHA BANU, J.] By consent of both parties, this Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.
2.It is the case of the petitioner that the 5th respondent is organizing Jallikattu Event in Sakkudi Village, Madurai North, Madurai District on 08.03.2025, for which, the 5th respondent was issuing participation token for the bulls on his own wish. When he approached the 5th respondent for obtaining
token, the 5th respondent refused to issue the same and rejected the petitioner's bull for the reason that the petitioner belongs to scheduled caste community. Therefore, the petitioner has filed this Writ Petition with the aforesaid prayer. 3.Mr.P.Thilak Kumar, learned Government Pleader appearing for the respondents 1, 2 and 4 and Mr.A.Albert James, learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents 3 and 5 would submit that token will be issued to the bull of the petitioner.
4.In view of the above, this Writ Petition is disposed of with a direction to the 5th respondent to issue token for the petitioner's bull to participate in the Jallikattu Event, which is scheduled to be conducted on 08.03.2025 and the respondents 2 and 6 are also directed to ensure the same.
