PRAYER: Contempt Petition is filed under Section 11 of the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971 praying to punish the respondents for the willful disobedience of the order of interim injunction, dated 22.11.2022 and subsequently extended on 22.02.2023 in W.P(MD) No.26317 of 2022, passed by this Court. O R D E R

[Order of the Court was made by R.SUBRAMANIAN, J.] Pursuant to the order dated 23.03.2023, the Tahsildar, Orathanadu Taluk, has filed a status report wherein it is stated that the paddy that was stored during the procurement season has now been removed and all activities have been stopped. It is also stated that the proposal to alienate the land to Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation has been dropped.

2. In view of the statement made, we find that the order of this Court has not been violated. It is made clear that the subject lands having been classified as "Temple site" do not vest with the government and the government

has not power to either reclassify or alienate the same. The contempt petition is, therefore, closed.
