O R D E R

This petition has been filed by the petitioner to direct the respondent police to file the final report in Crime No.34 of 2024 on the file of the respondent police.

2. According to the petitioner, she is the defacto complainant in this case and she lodged a complaint as against her husband and others. Based on that complaint, F.I.R in Crime No.34 of 2024 has been registered for the offences under Sections 498(A), 294(b), 406 and 506(i) of IPC, Section 4 of Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961 and Section 4 of Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act, 2002. After registration of the F.I.R, the respondent police have not conducted a proper investigation and so far not filed the final report. Hence, she has filed this petition.

The learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) would submit that they already sent a letter to the Social Welfare Officer in respect of the dowry complaint and thereby, awaiting for a report from the Social Welfare Officer. Immediately after receipt of the report, they will complete the investigation and file the final report within two months. Page No. 2 of 4

4. Since the case is pending from November, 2024 and so far the investigation has not been completed, it is appropriate to direct the respondent-police to complete the investigation and file the final report within a period of two months from the date of this order. Accordingly ordered.

5. With the above said direction, this criminal original petition is disposed of.
