Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to grant permission to conduct Valli Thirumanam Drama and Adalum Padalum scheduled to be held on 08.04.2021 and 10.04.2021, respectively, in connection with the Panguni festival of Muthalamman Temple at Cirupatti Nadupatti Village, Boothipuram Post, Usilampatti Taluk, Madurai District.

By consent, this Writ Petition is taken up for final hearing at the admission stage itself.
2.Mr.S.Chandra Sekar, learned Additional Public Prosecutor accepts notice for the respondents.
3.Mr.D.Malaichamy, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner is one of the organizers of the festival committee of Muthalamman Temple at Cirupatti Nadupatti Village, Boothipuram Post, Usilampatti Taluk, Madurai District, and that Valli Thirumanam Drama and cultural events are scheduled to be held on 08.04.2021 and 10.04.2021, respectively. His further contention is that he submitted representations dated 26.03.2021 and https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/ 1/2
W.P.(MD)No.7522 of 2021 30.03.2021 to the respondents seeking permission to conduct the said Drama, and till date, no action has been taken by the respondents. 4.In the circumstances, the first respondent is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner and pass appropriate orders, without making any restrictions on the timings as far as Valli Thirumanam Drama is concerned. As far as other cultural events are concerned, it should be restricted and the second respondent is at liberty to pass appropriate orders in this regard. 5.With the above observation, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
