2.S.Shanmugasundaram 3.S.Balusamy : Respondents PRAYER: Petition is filed under Section 482 of the Criminal Procedure Code to direct the first respondent to provide adequate police protection to her and her husband by name Sundareswaran as well against the life threat from the second and third respondents and ensure no untoward incident happened to them, on the basis of the complaint dated 03.04.2017.

O R D E R

It is the case of the petitioner that she was in love with one Sundareswaran, who belongs to different caste and against the wishes of her parents, she got married to the said Sundareswaran on 30.03.2017. Apprehending threat to her life from her father and uncle, the petitioner is before this Court seeking police protection.

2. Heard Mr.T.Indrachithu, learned Counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.A.P.Balasubramani, learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the first respondent. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

3. In Lata Singh Vs. State of U.P., and another reported in (2006) 5 SCC 475, the Honourable Supreme Court has clearly issued

directions to the instrumentalities of the State to encourage inter caste and inter religious marriages and the police have also been directed to afford protection to such couples. It is seen that this petitioner gave a complaint and it is pending in C.S.R.No.228 of 2017 before the Inspector of Police, All Women Police Station, Tallakulam.

4. In view of the above, the first respondent is directed to conduct enquiry in C.S.R.No.228 of 2017 and afford sufficient protection to the petitioner and her husband, so that no harm befalls them.

5. With the above directions, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of.
